Emerging Indian photographers and visual practitioners have an exciting opportunity to take their creative practice to an international platform through the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation’s residency programme, organised in partnership with PhotoSouthAsia (PSA) and the International Center of Photography (ICP).
The two-month residency will take place at the International Center of Photography in New York City during Spring 2027. It is designed for photographers, visual storytellers, curators, writers, researchers, and other practitioners working with visual culture who are interested in critical inquiry, artistic experimentation, research, and international exchange.
Selected participants will receive a $10,000 stipend to help cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses during the residency. The programme also includes up to 24 hours of mentorship with ICP curators, educators, and librarians, providing residents with an opportunity to receive professional guidance and develop their artistic or research-based practice.
Residents will also receive access to ICP’s facilities, including darkrooms, media labs, studios, and the ICP Library. This access can provide valuable resources for experimentation, research, production, and creative development while allowing participants to engage with New York’s vibrant photography and visual arts community.
The opportunity is open to Indian citizens holding a valid passport who were born on or after January 1, 1992. Applicants must also meet the programme’s residency requirements, including not having participated in a foreign residency programme during the previous three years.
The application deadline is August 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. Eligible photographers and visual practitioners interested in gaining international experience should submit their applications before the deadline.
