Indian painters looking to develop their artistic practice internationally have an exciting opportunity to apply for the Tracey Emin Artist Residency (TEAR), organised by the Inlaks Foundation in collaboration with the Tracey Emin Foundation. The residency will take place at TKE Studios in the United Kingdom and offers selected artists the opportunity to work in a professional studio environment while gaining valuable guidance from established figures in the art world.
Starting in April 2027, the programme will run for 14 months and provide dedicated studio space for the selected resident. Participants will also have opportunities to develop their studio practice alongside a community of professional artists. Mentorship and interactions with Tracey Emin, guest artists, curators, and gallery directors will further support artistic and professional development.
The Inlaks Foundation will provide financial assistance of GBP 12,000 towards living expenses in the UK. The residency also offers opportunities for artists to present their work and potentially reach wider audiences through exhibitions and professional connections.
The programme is specifically open to Indian citizens who are currently residing in India. Applicants must have been born on or after January 1, 1992, and should be no more than 35 years old at the time of application. The opportunity is intended for painters who work directly with physical materials and is not designed for artists whose practice primarily depends on digital technologies. Applicants who have previously received an overseas grant from the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation are not eligible.
The application deadline is September 4, 2026, at 5:00 PM BST. Eligible Indian painters interested in building an international artistic career should consider applying before the deadline.
